I'm writing to a stranger and they say they're a US soldier. How do I know if they're real ?
I always advise people to communicate through the military email address. Ask them to send you an email from the military email. But before you reply you must Google the correct format for US military email addresses.
Don't be fooled by an email like name@ usa . com
This is a common fake military email that scammers use. A real US military email has a firstname.surname@mail . mil format.
The format firstname.surname@ us. army. mil is also used. The air force, navy, and marine corps are similar except they are af, navy, mc instead of army. All soldiers are allowed to give out their military email. If someone refuses to give you it then they probably don't have one
